Welcome to Toddler Tuesday! These posts are perfect for those 1-3 year olds in your life. We hope you enjoy these posts, because we sure do love finding these books 🙂 #ToddlerTuesday woohoo!!!
So, Peekaboo Morning. It’s adorable. The premise is a little person who says “Peekaboo!” to everything they see in the morning. Dad, mom, grandma, grandpa, puppy, train, friend, etc, etc. Very simple, but a crowd pleaser.
I have used this book at a couple of day cares and a couple of toddler storytimes. It doesn’t matter how wiggly the crowd is, the repetition of this book pulls them right back into the book. In fact, there was one little boy at a storytime a few weeks ago who was doing everything BUT listening to the stories. Playing with the dinosaurs, building with the blocks, playing with our toy barn…the works. However, as soon as I started reading this book, I had an echo whenever I said “Peekaboo!” The entire storytime was repeating me, but this little boy was the loudest. He was INTO IT. Clearly, everyone enjoyed themselves.
The illustrations are lovely and just make you happy. Plus, if you are looking for a book that features diversity… Peekaboo Morning is perfect for that too.
Play peekaboo! Or if you want to make it a little more complicated, play hide and seek after reading the book.
If you wanted to, you could follow the example of this book and say peekaboo to everything you see in the morning. Or you could do the evening before bedtime.
